Abstract

Studies about urban climate realized so far has shown greater relevance to large cities, presumably for to the greater quality of life of its inhabitants and the worsening environmental problems. Currently in Brazil, there is some progress in relation to works carried out in small and medium cities, being fundamental to planning and land use planning. Considering the lack of studies on the quality of the urban environment, mainly, on small and medium cities at coastal areas in Brazil, and the need to conduct researchs that relate to environmental quality required for the development of human life, was proposed the study of urban climate of the city of Ubatuba-SP. This work aims to understand how much the dimension of a city can generate a specific urban climate and also which would be the forms of spatialization of heat islands in coastal environments, and identify which would be the magnitude of these phenomenons, focusing on internal analogies between the geoecological attributes of the site, morphology and urban functions, aiming to contribute to the solution of environmental quality loss problems generated in urban áreas. The main aim of this study is to understand and analyze the urban climate of the city of Ubatuba-SP, for identifying the levels of human interference in the environment and to characterize the temperatures according to the active atmospheric systems and their distribution in the geographic space, according to the different construction standards and relief features.
