The influence of LLLT applied on critical defects in skull of rats with estrogenic deficiency and under effect of smoking cigarette

Abstract

The repair and bone healing involve complex cellular events that need more time of action by cells to have the complete tissue bone regeneration. The smoking habit and estrogenic deficiency are known conditions affect and delay those important processes which bone tissue is submitted. The toxic compounds of cigarette are responsible for negative impact on bone. The estrogen is known as one of the most important regulator hormone of bone metabolism and its deficiency on body is linked to the most bone resorption. Thus, this study aim evaluate through histomorphometry the influence of LLLT applied on critical defects in skull of rats with estrogenic deficiency and under effect of smoking cigarette. For this, will be used 120 female adult rats (Rattus norvegicus, variation albinus, Wistar), with 90 days of age, randomly divided in four experimental groups, which one with 30 animals per group: G1:OVZ exposed to cigarette smoke, G2: OVZ non-exposed to cigarette smoking, G3: SHAM exposed to cigarette smoking, G4: SHAM non-exposed to cigarette smoking. The animals will undergo surgery to making critical defects in the skull and too the laser therapy. The animals will be sacrificed through cardiac perfusion on 21, 45 and 60 days periods. The histomorphometric analysis will be applied and the obtained data will be submitted to analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey test, both with conventional significance level of 5%.
