Abstract

The presence or absence of new knowledge of genetics in biology teaching materials is related to the process of didactic transposition, which has been a concern for several authors, even with regard to the deterministic view which is provided (CASTÉRA et al., 2007; 2008; CLÉMENT; CASTÉRA, 2013; SILVA; FERREIRA; CARVALHO, 2009b). In accordance with this concern, this overseas research internship project was intended to: 1) analyze how some examples of expression of human characteristics cited in educational materials move closer to and farther from reference knowledge; 2) to conduct this analysis, develop connections between the methodology developed in previous research (FRANZOLIN, 2012), which classifies the distances between knowledge in educational materials and reference knowledge into different types and implications, with the KVP model (Knowledge, Values, social Practices) introduced by Clément (2006) to didactic transposition, and which serves as a reference for the group of researchers within with dialog was hoped to be established during this research internship (CARVALHO, 2009). With this research, we hope to improve methodologies for analyzing existing teaching materials and broaden understanding of how the expression of complex human characteristics is being treated in Brazilian materials.
