Abstract

By the high epidemiological rate of trauma, congenital deformities and tumors with bone loss, tissue engineering has been outstanding in the development or improvement of biomaterials that act as a viable alternative in clinical cases where there is the need for grafting, acting as three-dimensional support for membership, proliferation and cell differentiation during the stages of bone repair. Among these materials that stimulate and accelerate osteoregeneration, there are the ceramics of hydroxyapatite and collagen-based polymers and elastin. The objective of this research is to evaluate the osteogenic potential of the combination of porous granules of hydroxyapatite with a polymeric membrane derived elastin of bovine auricular cartilage. For this, will be used 30 rats in which half will undergo the surgical procedure to create a defect in femur and the other half in the skull cap. For each bone, there is a control group (no implant in the bone injury), grafted group elastin membrane and another membrane with elastin combined with hydroxyapatite. After 5 weeks post-surgery, the animals will be sacrificied with high dose of anesthetic and surgical areas will be removed for macroscopic analysis, radiological and histomorphometrical in order to evaluate new bone formation repair of the experimental defect area. The project was approved by the Ethics Committee on Animal Experiments ok Jundiai's Medicine College (CEUA / FMJ), protocol 55/2015. (AU)
