Abstract

This project aims at the synthesis and characterization of solid co-crystals obtained from ciprofloxacin with the co-formers caffeic acid, ferulic acid, p-coumaric acid and chlorogenic acid.The crystals will be obtained through mechanochemical methods (solvent free and/or solvent-assisted grinding), with the aid of a ball mill. The characterization of the co-crystals will be carried out through the following experiments: differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) with microscope system, absorption spectroscopy in the infrared region (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction techniques (powder method and single crystal). It is expected this way to obtain co-crystals capable of promote an improvement in the physico-chemical properties of the antibiotic drug used for this study.
