Abstract

Oral lichen planus (OLP), a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the skin and mucosa, affects mainly women, with prevalence of 0,1 and 4% in the population. This project proposes to determine the levels of cortisol and NO present in the saliva of patients with OLP in order to study neuroimunoendocrine aspects of this disease and if it is possible to establish biomarkers that can act in the diagnosis. The sample will be composed of 30 individuals aged 25 to 60 years, 15 with proven diagnosis of OLP and 15 healthy subjects (control group). Data related to age, sex, race, clinical form, site, and association with psicological factors and drugs use will be evaluated. This study is part of the Project: Clinical, histopathological and immunopathological profile of patients diagnosed with oral lichen planus, and was previously approved by the Ethics Review Board - FORP/USP (CAAE 33703114.8.0000.5419).
