Abstract

This research project is a continuation of studies on highway wanderers conducted mainly by Prof. Dr. José Sterza Justo. Just as was done in previous research on this topic, this study aims to address the reality of the highway wanderers as a radical mirror of the modes of subjectivity grounded under current conditions of intense mobility resulting from the time-space compression, but, this time, focusing on the issue of low female presence in the "stretch", the existential aspects and the experiences of the few women who inhabit this non-place. Interviews will be conducted with men and women wanderers in the highway's edge "Raposo Tavares", near a post of the road police installed on the boundary of the city of Assis (SP). The interview will address the way of life of women living "in the stretch." This research will provide the knowledge about the universe of a population virtually unknown and also discuss gender issues specifically related to differences in geographic and psychosocial mobility between men and women.
