Abstract

Bullying is a problem worldwide in schools. The occurrence of this phenomenon can lead to physical and psychological damage to those involved, especially those who are involved as victims. The consequences of bullying can be momentary and / or for all the person's life, influencing their behavior and thoughts in adulthood. It is known that parents are important people to prevent and combat bullying. However, the efficacy and types of procedures adopted by them against the involvement of their children in bullying may be related to different factors, such as their beliefs for this form of violence. The literature shows that a person's beliefs are formed essentially by their experiences and may determine how that person will act throughout life against a phenomenon. The objective of this study is to assess the current perception and procedures adopted in three levels of prevention (primary, secondary and tertiary) of parents regarding the involvement of children in bullying, two groups of parents who were and were not victims of bullying in childhood / adolescence. Parents with children between 10 and 14 years of age, enrolled in primary school from a private school in the state of São Paulo will participate in this study. The instrument "Questionnaire for parents about perception, procedures and history in relation to bullying" was developed for this study and will be answered by the participants in the respective school of their children. This instrument will collect information about the history of involvement in bullying in childhood / adolescence of parents, procedures adopted by them against the possible involvement of their children (as) in bullying and current insights into this phenomenon. The data collected through the questionnaire will be analyzed qualitatively. The responses of parents with a history of bullying in childhood / adolescence will be compared with the responses of parents without this kind of experience. (AU)
