Abstract Mesons are states formed by a quark and an anti-quark pair and can be described as bound states of a potential that has a Coulomb-type component and a confining component, that grows with distance. This potential exhibits two fundamental features of QCD: the one-gluon exchange and the quark confinement in hadrons. The present work aims at solving the Schrodinger equation corresponding to this potential numerically and at studying its bound states. In a next step, corrections to the potential will be examined. This project will further the student's knowledge of Quantum Mechanics, expose them to numerical methods, introduce them to contemporary Particle Physics and prepare them for a possible Master's project in this area.
