Abstract

The research subject for BEPE internship at JCU - Johannes Gutenberg-Univesität Mainz is to study the ENVI-met V.4 Preview III model to quantify the impact of vegetation in urban microclimate (effect on air temperature, surface temperature, specific humidity, direction and wind speed), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Michael Bruse, author of the model. This study aims to achieve, among other possibilities, the following specific objectives: (1) 3D parameterization of Brazilian trees using the module Albero on ENVI-met model V.4 Preview 3, considering local leaf density and canopy structure already collected during fieldworks; (2) Sensitivity tests and calibration of the model based on field measurements carried out locally on urban parks; (3) Simulation of different greening parametric scenarios. The method includes field measurements for air temperature, humidity, globe and surface temperature, as well as registering other data that characterizes local microclimatic conditions (direction and wind speed, solar radiation, sky view factor), with the comparison between measured and simulated data on ENVI-met, based on the parametrization of local 3D plants.Parametric scenarios are essential to generate predictive studies in which vegetation will be incorporated and interconnected in different greening scenarios (linear parks, pocket parks, green roofs and walls). After simulation results, analyses will be carried out to define a better use and distribution of vegetation as a strategy to mitigate urban warming in a subtropical changing climate.
