This project intend to research through the mall element, aspects of the current relationship in consumption spaces between the public and the private and what that represents in the popular imagination. How works the production of the elements present in the streets and at the mall and how these affect the choice of consuming in one or the other and what is the nature of this consumption. Traditional malls enclosed, in certain situations are clearly opposed to the open public space like squares and parks and on the other hand, the demand for "open spaces" inside the malls has grown, increasing in the market, the demand for new typologies since the early 80. We intend to analyze what is the relationship (or lack of) exist between the enclosed malls located in the city and surrounding public areas such as the Prudenshopping mall and Oscar Figueiredo Filho and Edison Mario Albieri squares, and the Parque do Povo, alongside, in Presidente Prudente - SP and malls that incorporate open areas inside their own space, such as new projects of Iguatemi company in Ribeirão Preto.
