Abstract

As one grows older frailty syndrome appears more severely manifesting in increased risk of dependency and falls, as well as increased mortality and new episodes of hospitalization, oral health problems in frail elderly were not investigated related impact on quality of life. The objective of this study is to investigate the correlation between oral health related quality of life and the fragility of the elderly. There will be a epidemiologic observational cross-sectional study of elderly in the city of Bauru. To evaluate the oral health related quality of life will be used the OHIP-14 instrument, to investigate the frailty syndrome. The data will be evaluated regarding normal distribution, and then the correlation test will be carried out between variables at the 0.05 significance level. It is expected that the most frail elderly will show higher concern about their oral health condition.
