Abstract

The South Atlantic Convergence Zone (SACZ) takes place in the South American summer and is responsible for much of the observed rainfall in the Southeast region of Brazil. However, little is known about the aspects related to ocean-atmosphere interaction, in its marine part, since much of SACZ extends over the Atlantic South. This technical and scientific visit to Dr. Arthur J. Miller (CASPO / SCRIPSS) aims to seek further knowledge about the physical processes of ocean-atmosphere interaction, the SACZ / southwest Atlantic system. Also will be seized this opportunity to discuss the rationality of the use of certain physical parameterizations in the survey of the regional system of coupled modeling COAWST, drawing on the expertise of Dr. Miller and his research group. The intention is that the results from this visit unfold in research collaborations through bilateral projects, which can greatly help in the development of knowledge applied to problems that greatly affect the weather and climate of our country.
