Abstract

In this project we propose the study of metastable behaviors of ferromagnetic Ising models with a periodic external field. In particular, we will consider external fields forming a chessboard, in which alternately in each cell we assign the value $h_1$ or $-h_2$, where $h_1, h_2> 0$.This work continues the candidate research project (2015/02801-6). Previous and recent results are related to the low-temperature phase diagram for such Ising model. The phase transition proved in González-Navarrete et al. (2016) suggests that this model is a simple but interesting example to be considered as initial understanding of metastability issues.
