Abstract

One of the central problems in Rigorous Statistical Mechanics is to determine whether or not a model has a phase transition, as well as a description of its thermodynamic functions such as pressure, correlations, etc. Since Ising's model is the most revisited and best understood model of theory, it is natural to expect variations of this example to be well understood as well. The objective of this project is: to study the Potts model in the Cayley tree and in Z^d and investigate the possibility of new phenomena to appear in ferromagnetic model under an inhomogeneous field.
