Abstract

In mammals, the food intake and energy expenditure are strongly regulated for specifically neurons localized in the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus controls the energy food and energy expenditure through of hormonal and nutritional signals. A main nutrient related the food intake control is the glucose. Studies link that the lost selective of glucose sensibility in the hypothalamic neurons are related the hyperphagia and obesity. Recently, the HIF2 alpha emerged as regulated important maintenance of glucose sensibility in hypothalamic neurons. The loss of function of this molecule reduces the ability of neurons detect the presence of glucose, results in increase of food intake and body weight in mice. In this context, the maintenance of neuronal HIF2 alpha can be considerate a determinate strategy for maintenance of lean phenotype. At the same time, the physical exercise is considered a main contributor to the control of body weight and energy expenditure. However the effects of physical exercise about the glucose sensibility in the central nervous systems (CNS) remain unexplored. Thus, the objective of this study is investigates the effect of physical exercise in the glucose sensibility in the hypothalamus of rats and evaluates the hypothalamic HIF2 alpha protein expression.
