Abstract

This project aims to present the importance of the research internship abroad to the main doctorate project. The internship adds specific goals to the broader research: to deepen the knowledge on historiographical methodology, especially in behavioral and cognitive sciences; to analyses documents concerning the history of analytical-behavioral therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapies, according to the historiographic methods, under the advice of Professor Edward K. Morris, providing subsidies to better understand the data and to broader the research. Considering that the similarities and differences between these clinical interventions are not clearly bounded and that the practice consistent with the theoretical and technical foundations is capital for its quality and efficiency, it is appropriate to carry out deep historiographical researches, in order to understand the foundation and historical development of each field and their intertwining. Thus, aiming to accomplish these deeper studies, this research internship is proposed. This proposal includes developing studies about historiography; developing bibliographical studies in the Libraries of The University of Kansas, concerning clinical practices founded in behavior analysis and cognitive-behavioral theories; and analyzing the documents collected. Thereby, this research internship, focused on historiographical methodology, will provide subsidies to better understand not only the historical data, but also the data on the practice, thus improving the doctorate research.
