Abstract

The breeding quantitative methods, combined with the knowledge of the mechanism of action of genes associated with carcass quality and meat cattle traits, can allow Brazilian producers produce different meats, thus promoting increased competitiveness of the country in the international market. As well as other traits of economic importance, the trait of rib eye area (REA) and the meat lipid content, are also dependent on the environmental and genetic effects on the tissues and metabolism. In the context of animal functional genomics, the study of the transcriptome through of RNAseq allows molecular assessment of the animals for these traits. In this sense, the differential expression of genes and their isoforms, associated with AOL and the meat lipid content, will contribute to the understanding of the molecular mechanisms involving these features and subsequently to the selection of superior animals Nelore. Given the above, this project aims to identify genes differentially expressed and information genome expression profile of muscle tissue phenotypically divergent Nellore animals for carcass traits (rib eye area) and meat (total lipid content ) using the RNA-Seq technique. This project will help in the identification of differentially expressed genes and can generate information on the molecular mechanisms related to these characteristics, and thus contribute to the production of meat with higher quality.
