Abstract The project at postdoc level envisage the application of confocal microscopy to analyze the interaction at molecular level between distinct analytes and biological membrane models. The main activities to be conducted are: i) prepare giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs) of zwiterionic phospholipids and cholesterol using the electroformation method, ii) probe analytes-GUVs interactions by adding different concentrations of the analytes to the external environment surrounding the GUVs, iii) propose molecular mechanisms involved in the analytes-phospholipids interaction, iv) develop new applications using phase contrast, fluorescence and confocal microscopies toward biomembrane mimetic systems (GUVs adhesion on modified substrates, Langmuir-Blodgett, Langmuir-Schaefer, dipping- and spray-Layer-by- Layer films).
