Abstract

Necessity to employ alternative strategies for the reduction and rational use of pesticides, has been encouraging Brazilian to use the biodiversity as a natural source of bioactive compounds in combating pests, insects, fungi and weeds. Recent studies, pointed to use of fungi as natural source saprobes quite effective. They can contributes to the disease and pest control through the activation of defense mechanisms in susceptible plants, and/or by the direct activity antagonism. Additional, having great potential as a source of new substances that may be explored in pharmaceutics. In this context, the chemical study of Stachybotrys levispora it is necessary, because in some preliminary studies conducted by the group of natural products UFSCar, showed great potential for the production of metabolites interesting from the point of view of biological activity.
