Abstract

This research titled "Student participation in the management of public schools," came from a caring involvement with research and curricular supervised training in education management in public schools, which questioned me about the students' participation in school activities as unique moment of civic education. This research aims to investigate the students' participation in the management of public schools from the first cycle of basic education. To achieve these goals we will develop a qualitative research, as they are significant in portraying the complexity of everyday life, in our case the school. Our goals directed us to choose as data collection instruments: bibliographical research, participant observation and semi-structured interview. In literature the search for theoretical basis which will base the entire study. To carry out the observation / participation will identify with the management staff of public schools in Martock, state of São Paulo, some activities that emphasize student participation in school management. We develop the semi-structured interviews with members of the management staff, faculty, staff and students who agree to participate in research in selected schools. For data analysis will use the document analysis for school papers and searched for literature. And the content analysis to the written record of observations and records of semi-structured interviews. We intend to research the final understand how democratic management through participation can assist civic education of students in the school I cycle of elementary school. After students learn democracy and participation are experiencing situations involving these concepts in basic education school. (AU)
