Abstract

The present research aims evaluate the physical space with an emphasis on accessibility of the libraries in the university UNESP, in Bauru - SP and Marília - SP. The purpose is to assess the current state of the libraries, about the conditions of access and adaptation of all users, including the users with special conditions of mobility, to the environment and to propose recommendations and projective guidelines for the readjustment of these spaces, about accessibility, spaciousness, layout elements and function of these places. The research is set in a Post-Occupancy Evaluation from methods such as data collection, walkthrough, photographic records, questionnaires, interviews and diagnostic results. The study includes the evaluation of the built environmental of these buildings and proposals of design solutions not only for these libraries, but also for other collections, referencing possible solutions and innovations to readjust the spaces with concern in the accessibility and Universal Design. The research will be developed in five stages: Literature search, Procedures of Post-Occupancy Evaluation, Diagnostic results, case study's recommendations and general guidelines of accessibility to libraries. It is articulated with the GA - Grupo de Arquitetura do Departamento de Arquitetura, Urbanismo e Paisagismo da UNESP Campus/Bauru, in which the Prof. Dr. Samir Hernandes Tenório Gomes is a member.
