Analysis of survival of diabetes mellitus animal model undergoing allotransplantation of pancreatic islets

Abstract

The scarcity of islets is significant to the widespread use of islet allograft for the obstacle. According to the Network of Organ Procurement and Transplantation in 2011 , only 1562 were recovered pancreas 8,000 donor organs available in the United States. Besides many donor pancreas is not suitable for extraction of islets, did not meet the selection criteria and the fact that incorrect handling of islets, only a small number of islet transplants can be performed.The objective of the study is to conduct a review of experimental attempts to allografts in rodents, in order to analyze the parameters involved and their viabilidade. A search was performed using the Pubmed database searching for published articles containing the keywords: " rodent islet transplantation "According to studies, it was found that the highest survival rate was obtained by Luan et al. al. which was the site of transplant renal capsule. Wee et . al used the portal vein (liver ) as a site of allograft and sacrificed the mice at 100 days postoperatively; Melzi et . al. Watanabe et al. Merani et al obtained a survival rate of 100 days, where the site was receiving the allograft capsule renal. A from the studies analyzed, we can infer that the allograft in rodents is promising and continues to develop. Survival rates have increased with the discovery of new immunosuppressive drugs and the use of different sites for grafting.
