Abstract

This research project deals with the discussions around the home furnishings in the period from 1930 to 1950, from articles and announcements published in illustrated magazines "A Cigarra" and "O Cruzeiro", and the magazines of architecture "Acrópole" and "A Casa". From texts and images published by these journals, in order to present aesthetic and functional questions regarding the use of household furniture, including their arrangement in space of the house, we analyze the social phenomenon of dissemination of modern furniture, thus showing the appropriation of modernist principles in relation to domestic space.
