Abstract

The social support is characterized as resources from the social ties established by a person which provide information, material and /or emotional assistance, affecting the physical and mental health of those who receive them. This is an important aspect in the life of all people, including the crack user, a drug with a high dependence content and immediate effects on the body. One of the sources of support which these users can count consists of the Office in the Street, which uses as a reference the harm reduction logic, that is, reducing the risks associated with drug use without interfering directly in consumption. Thus, this study aims to analyze the network characteristics of social support crack users accompanied by an Office in the street of a city in Minas Gerais. This is a qualitative descriptive study, exploratory, to be carried out with all crack users accompanied by staff of the Office Street (about 40), and four professional members of this team. The project was approved by the Research Ethics Committee, under paragraph 50051015.4.0000.5393 protocol, and all the ethical aspects will be followed. It is hoped that this study will produce theoretical and practical contributions on the subject studied, disclose the working method developed by the Office in the street, bring to light the psychosocial aspects related to crack users, describe the support network that the user is inserted and give subsidies for the development of new research highlighting this theme
