Abstract

Changes and stability in vegetation are concepts of extreme importance, giving their potential impacts on man and society. Considering the increasing public availability of remote sensing satellite imagery, it is possible to extract relevant temporal data and, then, examine their stability properties and understand how vegetation is changing over time. With this project, we intend to (1) specify and implement a time series mining tool to conduce the definition and the evaluation of stability measures based on information extracted from time series additive components and the detection of changes, and (2) generate thematic maps of the measures. The goal is to support the visualization of mining results that might help addressing relevant questions to the broader multidisciplinary Tribes project (FAPESP Process 2013/50169-1), which comprises studies on tropical biome shifts. After the development of this tool, we expect to integrate it to the candidate's current master's project (FAPESP Process 2015/02105-0).
