Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the presence of fecal occult blood in dogs with chronic kidney disease (CKD) using indicator tests (guaiac and benzidine). For this study, a total of 40 dogs will be used, 10 control animals (elective castration) and 30 CKD from Nephrology and Urology service of UNIFRAN Veterinary Teaching Hospital. They will be classifieds recomeded by IRIS using routine tests (complete blood count, urinalysis, serum biochemistry, blood pressure). Fecal samples will be evaluated through the techniques of guaiac and benzidine by two blinded readers.
