Abstract

Despite the many technological advances occurring in recent years, there permanent, need to develop new ways to obtain electrical energy with high efficiency, low production of environmental pollutants and using renewable sources. Among the possibilities to achieve this goal, fuel cells, especially SOFC (solid oxide fuel cells), appear as one of the most promising alternative. In this context, the development and optimization of a SOFC are vital for the viabilization of these systems, as commercial generators of electricity, particularly when reaching reduced manufacturing costs and allowing the use of biofuels such as ethanol and glycerol. This work aims to contribute to the development electrolyte/electrodes assemblies for SOFCs (geometric area of 2 cm2) fed by biofuels. This will be obtained by depositing, first electrolyte and then the cathode, on a pre-produced pellet of the anode (anode supported SOFC). Little has been explored in Brazil in this area, where only a few articles his been published regarding production of SOFCs, which effectively operate with high efficiency and extended period, particularly when fed with biofuels.
