Abstract

The prioritization the circulation of motor vehicles in road system of Presidente Prudente is prevalent; consequently, a significant part of urban signage is aimed at drivers, resulting in the neglect of the routes for pedestrians on public tours. By focusing in this segment of the population, accessibility on the sidewalk becomes impaired due to curbside cutouts with inadequate slopes, discontinuity of sidewalks, lack of maintenance, among other drawbacks, such as the residential neighborhood the Jardim das Rosas. Thus, this research proposes a study on the accessibility and urban signage in the municipality of Presidente Prudente analyzing the case of the Jardim das Rosas neighborhood, in order to verify the perception and comfort of users and the conditions of the tours, urban public facilities and signage pedestrian, using as a basis the Brazilian Standard of Accessibility (NBR 9050: 2004), the Brazilian Traffic Code, signaling manuals and concepts of universal design. It will be elaborate a diagnosis of the site and recommendations for the appropriateness of the Jardim das Rosas with the rules and laws currently in force from the collected data.
