Abstract

This research project aims to investigate the gender perspective in early childhood education and teacher training, identifying possible links between public policies in Italy and Brazil. Teacher training in the field of early childhood education and gender presents challenges of the practical application of the principles of gender equality and citizenship to ensure the recognition of new values related to masculinity and femininity, as appointed by national and international public policy (Brazil and Italy). Whereas in Brazil are scarce or almost non-existent educational materials on the subject of gender for teachers of Early Childhood Education, this project of research aims to raise and analyze children's literatures adopted in Italian day care centers and pre-schools on the theme of relations of gender. It also seeks to know and analyze the Italian public policy for early childhood education and the challenges for the construction of a pedagogy of gender differences. The research aims to contribute to the challenge of spreading a culture of equality through the integration of a gender perspective in early childhood education strategies and teacher training.
