Abstract

In the decades of 1960-70, several geologists have been concerned with sea level fluctuation in the past six to seven thousand years ago, and the consequences of such sea level fluctuation Suguio et al. (1985) have shown that along sea coast from Angra dos Reis toward south, around five to six thousand years ago the sea level reached 3 to 4 meters above present sea level. Castro et al. (2014) were able to show that sea level along Cabo Frio/Búzios sea coast, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, was about 0,5 m below present sea level around 8500 years ago and around 4.800 to 4.500 years ago the sea level was 2,5 m above present sea level. Many been covered with sea; during this probably billions of small shells mollusks lived. With the sea level with drawing to the present level the remains of shells are found in several places. The purpose of the present wane is to collect such shells and date them. (AU)
