Abstract

Boa Vista (Brazil) and Santa Elena de Uairen (Venezuela) are meeting points of different groups that get around in the spaces of the border between the two countries. The border is transnational space mediated by political-administrative joints, economic, social and cultural rights, at the same time wherein enable the spatial and symbolic reconfiguration of migrants, particularly with regard to kinship relations. Between coming and going to the countries of origin, and in relations with Brazilians and Venezuelans, the Venezuelan and Brazilian transnational families experience daily a "field of possibilities" of the capital of Roraima and the border town of Santa Elena de Uairen which produce local differences (as the category Mira). In this sense, this research project aims to analyze the production of difference of Venezuelans migrants in the environment of Boa Vista and of Brazilians in Santa Elena de Uairen, taking into consideration the continuities and changes of family relationships in mobility context. The research will be guided firstly by kinship conceptions problematisation of these migrants and subsequently, following their experiences of family relationships in these cities. (AU)
