Abstract

The role of illustration in children's books bring us reflections about the themes: children, book, art and children's education, it is inseparable from the relationship between these aspects when studying this subject. The book, as a way of cultural knowledge essential to the normal development and especially in the visual reading process, is an important component for the acquisition of knowledge, and the sooner it is presented to them became easier the assimilation of such knowledge. However, the child in early childhood have on the visual reading its initial form in the world of reading and literacy processes. Thus, this cultural object - book needs to be attractive, fun and headed for his reading in this sense the role of illustrations and graphic design is a paramount importance. The research goal is to identify, describe and analyze the characteristics and stylistic aspects of the illustrations that sharpen visual reading book for children of early childhood education, seeking the characteristics of the illustrations that challenge and support the development of their enjoyment capabilities and interpretation of visual record. The research is qualitative; have an exploratory approach, as the procedures are literature and documentation, with literature in search of repertoire to guide for achieving the proposed objective, concurrently, it will be held the analysis of 5 books indicated by PNLE. In order to do that rapprochement between the features found in the books that the public and the works selected for the analysis. The result of this study may help preschool teachers to selection the books seeking from the quality of his illustrations.
