Abstract

This research internship abroad aims to discuss data related to the PhD project, as to discuss how the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative for Neonatal Units (Neo-BFHI), implemented by knowledge translation, influenced post-intervention data of breastfeeding, health condition of premature and compliance scores to the Neo-BFHI; to understand the relationship between the results of prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding in preterm infants and the implementation and evaluation of the compliance scores to the Neo-BFHI for practice changes; to deepen the evaluation of compliance scores of Neo-BFHI; to know neonatal units that implement the Neo-BFHI and to discuss ways to implement it in the context of Brazilian hospitals and public policies to promote, protect and support breastfeeding in preterm infants. The opportunity of internship abroad with supervisory specialist in breastfeeding promotion and support and the implementation and evaluation of compliance to the principles of Neo-BFHI will enhance my knowledge in the expansion of BFHI and assists in the discussion and final considerations of my PhD project.
