Abstract

Concern about the microbiological quality of milk is common. There is a constant demand of consumers for food safe, and information about the main microorganisms involved with the product is necessary. To obtain effectiveness in improving milk quality programs, capacity and awareness of workers and milk handlers are essential. The objective of this study is to evaluate the presence of microorganisms causing contagious mastitis in milk tank, teat, water and milkers hands from four farms during good milking practices training. The evaluated farms are located in the northeast of São Paulo. Seventy sex isolates of Staphylococcus spp. and 75 isolates of Streptococcus spp. are available. These isolates were obtained from different sampling points during milkers training program. Sampling took place bimonthly during the morning milking. The Staphylococcus spp. and Streptococcus spp. will be subjected to molecular identification with genetic sequencing to confirm the species, followed by phylogenetic analysis. (AU)
