Abstract

Neck pain is prevalent, disabling and costly, making it a major public health problem. Several studies have been performed in neck pain field; however, none of these studies have focused on identifying the gaps or the emerging, never or poorly addressed opportunities in this field. Objective: To identify and rank the neck pain research priorities in primary care. Methods: A three round modified-Delphi survey will be conducted. Questionnaires will be emailed to 400 participants listed by research at the Expertscape and PubMed website. The first round will identify which neck pain research priorities the participants consider relevant for neck pain primary care and vote which of the low back priorities formulated in the X International Forum for Primary Care Research can be consider as neck pain research priority either. The second and the third round will classify and rank these current research priorities using a Delphi process. Expected Results: This study will identify the gaps in neck pain research in order to create a list of the most important research priorities in this field. This research agenda will guide researchers and funding agencies to conduct further research in the field of neck pain, therefore improving the quality and impact of research in this area. (AU)
