Abstract

Chronic skin lesions caused by different etiologies, including different degrees of burn are commonly treated using skin grafts. These can be autologous (where the donor and recipient's own) or allogeneic (where the graft is obtained from other individuals normally cadavers). However, it is common to lack of sufficient tissue to meet all the demand so that alternative therapies become necessary. Among these, biological acellular biomaterials obtained from the decellularization tissue, have been considered an important option. However, the application of this technology for skin replacement requires complete characterization of this in order to guide what the best tissue to be decellularized. For this purpose, Wistar rats will be have the dermis decellularized and morphologically evaluated by histological techniques, electron microscopy and protein analysis. (AU)
