Abstract

Research on periodontal disease has traditionally focused on etiology, pathogenesis and treatment outcomes. Nonetheless, recently, several studies have indicated the onset of the disease is associated with low levels of quality of life. The aim of this study is to understand the experience of its impact on patients' quality of life with aggressive periodontitis (AP). The project has been approved by the FOUSP's Ethics Committee. Following clinical and radiographic evaluation, thirty individuals with aggressive periodontitis and ten patients with chronic periodontitis will be selected. After signing the Free and Clarified Consent Term (FCCT), they will submit answers to a questionnaire (OHIP-14 BR), which will assess their quality of life levels. This study has the hypothesis that patients with AP present lower quality of life levels.
