Abstract

Violence has afflicted the health work environments in Brazil and worldwide, greatly victimizing nursing professionals. In Brazil, the studies evaluating workplace violence and their interrelations are still incipient, some little too highlighted in the international literature. Therefore, the general objective of the study is to analyze the violence in the work context and its implications for the work ability among nursing workers. Specific objectives: to realize systemized review of the literature around specific topic related to violence at work; characterize the sample, according to profile and aspects of the work; evaluate the occurrence of violence in the employment context, the work ability and aspects around of the intentions to leave between the nursing staff; identify potential associations of violence with the work ability; and to verify potential associations of the violence and work ability with the employee's intention to leave the institution with which it has a formal job, unity and profession. Cross-sectional study involving nursing staff and for data collection makes use of following instruments: questionnaire with socio-demographic data, lifestyles, health and work aspects; work ability index; turnover intent scale; a questionnaire for the assessment of workplace violence; and additional questions to assess aspects of the intentions to leave. The data will be submitted to descriptive and inferential analysis, and may indicate the existence of a relationship between phenomena, and support measures to promote workplace safety and worker health.
