Abstract

This project aims to establish an international scientific partnership in the area of computational fluid dynamics between EEL/USP and the University of Coimbra (Portugal) through the Research Group of Professor Almerindo Ferreira - Department of Mechanical Engineering. The intention is to study the flow of liquid and steam on perforated trays of distillation and parastillation column, aiming to compare both process and providing technical and scientific support to the parastillation columns design. The free software OpenFOAM will be used and the results will be validated by empirical correlations found in the scientific literature. Besides the development of the proposed work, is expected to consolidate a scientific partnership between universities, enabling the exchange of students and professors and the development of joint projects (AU)
