Abstract

The aim in this project is apply the Fission Track Method, FTM, in zircon to determine both the age and thermal history of the basements located in the southern of the Brazilian Belt in which are located the Araxá, Canastra and Banbui formations. These formations are located between the Minas Gerais and São Paulo states, Brazil. In addition, the dating method U/Pb (LA-ICP-MS) will be applied to zircon grains collected in the study area. Therefore, will be possible to obtain, simultaneously, FTM and U/Pb ages in the same zircon grain. This form, we will have a better geochronological understanding of the Bauru Group through comparison of data, obtained previously in this geological unit, with those to be obtained in the Brazilian Belt. That is, will be possible to do a Source-basin correlation since the Brazilian Belt can be an important source of drainage that came to form the Bauru Group located at north of the Paraná Basin, Brazil. To achieve this goal, the collect of 10 samples were carried out in the study area. (AU)
