Abstract

The nutritional profile of brazilian population has been significantly changing during the past decades, with na increase of overweight/Obesity and a decrease on cases of malnutrition. Obesity etiology is multifactor and it is associated with behavioral factores, as sedentary behavior and unhealthy eating habits. The knowledge about the factors which predisposes to engage on these behaviors is relevant, both in terms of scientific breakthrough as for clinical practice. In this context, Dr. Graham Finlayson group from the University of Leeds, at United Kingdom, developed a plataform which evaluates afective and motivational (liking and wanting) aspects involved on eating preferences, allowing an accurate measurement of hedonic aspects of eating behavior and the knowledge about aspects which are involved on weight gain. This project presents as main aim the translation, adaptation and validation of the Leeds Food Preference Questionnaire for brazilian population. The second aim is to perform a study protocol using the LFPQ to evaluate obese participants, with and without binge eating. Therefore, the present investigation represents a step forward on this knowledge área, since it is an unprecedented possibility of evaluation of the cited constructs in Brazil, which may help health professionals on the development of more effective strategies for the control and treatment of Obesity.
