Abstract

This work intends to analyze the recent debate between Rainer Forst and Axel Honneth on the foundations of a critical theory of politics. We intend to examine how Rainer Forst formulates his theory of right to justification, presenting it as a decisive element for the resolution of normative conflicts, which will be diagnosed according to each social context. To do so, we will follow these steps: firstly examine how the author construes his criticism of the theory of Axel Honneth, secondly examine whether the response that Honneth presents to this criticisms is satisfactory for the solution of the problems pointed out by Forst. Finally, we will try to assess the conclusions that can be drawn from the debate right to justification/recognition for the contemporary Critical Theory. (AU)
