Abstract

The research examines the action located ways in evangelical churches and organizations in the field of welfare in Brazil in the last three decades. It is intended to analyze how the issue of promoting social rights mobilized religious leaders around its definition and its solution. The overall objective is to investigate disputes involving the insertion of one interdenominational organization and two evangelical churches - Rede Evangélica Nacional de Ação Social (RENAS), Assembleia de Deus and Universal do Reino de Deus - in the field of social assistance in order to analyze specific situations where they were mobilized with other religious leaders, civil society and government organizations around the implementation of social rights. The hypothesis is that the work undertaken by these actors in promoting social rights has resulted in new modalities to be evangelical and new modalities of implementation of these rights in Brazil.
