Abstract

Among the non-communicable diseases, those related to the cardiovascular system are considered of great importance as it is one of the main causes of mortality in Brazil, highlighting the acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and vascular cerebral accident. To occur the control of modifiable risk factors, early identification of signs and symptoms of ACS and stroke and, consequently, the prevention of these events in individuals, we realized the need for identification of the knowledge of population which seeks for emergency services in relation to this issue, which can support health education programs in the implementation of measures for the modification of this situation. In order to assess the knowledge of the users of emergency service of a public hospital on stroke and acute coronary syndrome, this research will develop a quantitative, cross-sectional analytical study, conducted in the emergency service of the University Hospital of the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), Hospital São Paulo, through interviews made by CADE-Q questionnaire to assess knowledge of users on ACS and questionnaire to assess users' knowledge about stroke.
