Abstract

The objective of this project is to evaluate the eating behavior in preschool and quantify the salivary ghrelin and leptin levels, verifying the possible relationships with nutritional state. At leats 60 children aged 3-5 years will be selected from preschools of Piracicaba, SP, Brazil and their parents/caregivers. The eating behavior will be evaluated using the Brazilian version of Children's Eating Behavior Questionnaire (CEBQ). It will be performed the anthropometric evaluation to determine the body mass index and the nutritional state according to the growth charts of the WHO taking into account the respective z values and percentiles, using the statistical package WHO Anthro Plus; the feeding intake will be evaluated by the 24 hours register of food ingestion and the estimation about energy, macro and micronutrients with the Nutrition Program (NutWin/Unifesp, version 2.5); the quantification of salivary ghrelin and leptin will be carried out by enzymatic assay. The data will be analyzed by descriptive statistics. The respective normality will be verified to choose parametric or non-parametric tests. Quantitative variables will be analyzed by association tests and regression models. The internal consistency of CEBQ will be checked by Cronbach's and the reproductbility of test-retest by intraclass correlation, using one-way analysis of variance random-effects parallel model. (AU)
