Abstract

The Zika virus (ZIKV) is a flavivirus, like the Dengue Virus and is also transmitted by de Aedes mosquito, specially the Aedes aegypti. Until 2007 there were no cases of ZIKV outside the african country, in that year, the however, infections in Yap Islande, in Micronesia, were reported. Between 2014 is end and february 2016, the virus already spread to 22 states of Brazilian Federation, with the recent confirmation that it can cause microcephalys. There is already reports of oftalmological damages caused by ZIKV, like anomalies in eye fundus and optic disk. There is also studies showing that Dengue virus, closely relatad to ZIKV, can cause maculopathy. Thus, the present study proposes an evaluation of the possible alterations in visual acuity and color perception in children with ages varying from 3 months old to 3 years old, whose mothers were infected by ZIKV, using, respectively, the Theller Acuity Cards and CCT Kids.
