Abstract

Even when broiler diets are composed by non-viscous cereals like corn, xylanase and beta-glucanase supplementation has been lead to positive effects. Therefore, this study will investigate the effects of carbohydrases from different sources in varying energy content corn-soybean based broiler diets. Birds will be randomly assigned in a 2×4+2 factorial arrangement (two energy levels - high or low × inclusion or not of three different carbohydrases + two control diets). Two experiments will be conducted to evaluate: first): performance, litter moisture, footpad dermatitis incidence, relative organs weight, pH of gizzard and duodenum digesta, jejunal digesta viscosity, gut morphometry, blood leucocytes and biochemical parameters; second): thermal profile of caeca, volatile fatty acids profile in caecal content, bacterial counts in the caeca and ileal digestibility of protein and energy. Data will be analyzed in a factorial arrangement to determine the main effects and their interaction using the GLM procedure of SAS and differences will be considered significant at P < 0.05.
