Abstract

The general goal of my research is to map out political-institutional innovations to reform the global financial governance that have the purpose of its democratization. Specifically, we intend to answer the following questions: 1. Do the designed or implemented innovations adopt a radical reform or just an incremental perspective? 2. How do they face the problems of the inequality of power due to the technical knowledge required for participation and accountability in financial governance, and of the dissociation between the time of democracy and the time of global finance? 3. Are the implemented or designed decision-making processes able to generate "political energy" enough to make their decisions effective? The "institutional mapping" is the observation of institutions and institutional projects critically, comparing ideal goals with the institutional reality, and seeking, in their qualities, failures and limits, materials that could be reworked.
