Abstract

The high rate of chronic noncommunicable diseases have been positively associated with high healthcare costs, influencing directly in quality of life decrease and well-being of adults. However, Brazilian studies that evaluate cost-utility through the use of quality of life level and healthcare costs are still scarse in the literature. Thus the main objective of the project is to evaluate cost-utility of the treatment of patients attended by Basic Health Units (BHU), in the city of Presidente Prudente-SP. The sample will be composed of a minimum of 240 patients attended by BHU in the city, of both sexes, aged over 50 years old. After check the inclusions criteria and signing the terms of consents the patients will be submitted to evaluations regarding: i) quality of life; ii) healthcare costs; iii) physical activity and medication use. For statistical analysis, average values, standard deviation and 95% confidence interval will be used to descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA for comparison of dependent variables, ANCOVA test (post-hoc Bonferroni test) if there is significant after factors confusion. Cost-utility analysis will be expressed in terms of cost per day healthy disease-free or cost per year of life adjusted for quality (QALY). Statistical significance (p-value) will be pre-set at below 5%. The software used is the BioEstat (version 5.0). (AU)
